Pricing, billing and security
Pricing tiers
Plainly has three main subscription plan types:
- Usage based — Subscription that limits the number of rendering minutes per month. It comes in four different tiers: Starter, Explorer, Team, and Pro. Each tier comes with its own set of available features, but all of our pricing tiers operate on the same basic principle which is the number of video minutes rendered.
- Unlimited — Subscription that allows unlimited rendering minutes and project storage per month. However, it is limited to a certain number of concurrent renders you can have at any given time.
- Enterprise — Custom subscription plan that is tailored to your specific needs. It includes all the features of the Pro or Unlimited plan, but with additional benefits such as custom billing options, custom SLAs, security assessments, SSO, IP whitelisting, dedicated support, and more.
On our pricing page you can find more information and current pricing for each plan. You can also find a comparison table that shows the differences between the plans.

Resource limits
Video minutes rendered
Rendering minutes are calculated from the length of the video you create using Plainly. For example, if you create a 30-seconds video, it will count as 0.5 rendering minutes.
Additional rules apply to the rendering minutes:
- Duration is not rounded up or down, exact time in seconds is counted.
- The minimum counted rendering time per single render is 1 second.
- In case of a render error, the rendering minutes for that render are refunded automatically.
- There is no extra charge for thumbnails, or additional video with watermark. Only the main video duration is counted.
- Currently, rendering a draft video is free of charge.
- Currently, there is no extra charge for changing the output format of the video or apply custom encoding parameters.
- The limit applies to video minutes rendered per month, if not defined otherwise in your plan. The limit is reset at the end of the month.
Concurrent renders
Concurrent renders are the number of videos that can be rendered at the same time. Each subscription plan has a limit on the number of concurrent renders you can have.
If you exceed this limit, a render will be marked as Throttled, and as soon as a slot becomes available, the render will be started.
Storage size
Storage size is the amount of project data you can store in Plainly:
- Storage applies only to the project data, not the rendered videos.
- The storage size for a single project is calculated as the sum of uncompressed project data, including videos, images, and other assets.
- The storage limit is not reset at the end of the month. It is a hard limit, and if you exceed it, you will not be able to create new projects until you upgrade your subscription or delete some of your existing projects.
Video retention
Video retention is the duration your rendered videos are stored in the Plainly cloud storage. After the retention period, videos are automatically deleted and will not be available for download or playback.
It’s advised to download your rendered videos, or move them to your own storage, before the retention period expires.
Yearly subscriptions
If you choose to pay for your subscription yearly, you will receive a discount of ~30% on the total price for usage based plans, and ~10% for unlimited plans. This is a great way to save money if you know you will be using Plainly for an extended period of time.
Please note that in usage-based plains video minutes rendered will still be counted and limited per month.
Free trial
Plainly offers a free trial for all new users. The free trial lasts for 14 days and includes same limits as the Pro plan. However, during the trial, some features may be limited or disabled.
