Designs

Designs are pre-made projects created by the Plainly team. We created these so you can get started asap, without the need to create custom projects. They have the same functionality as the custom projects, and you can render them in the same way (single render, batch render, API render).

You can find the designs in the Designs page.

Categories

Designs are split into categories, so you can easily find the one you need. Categories include:

  • E-commerce - designs for e-commerce businesses, such as product showcases, sales promotions, and more.
  • News snippets - designs for news and media companies, such as news snippets, article promotions, and more.
  • Slideshow - designs for creating slideshows from images, such as photo galleries, presentations, and more.
  • Summary videos - designs for creating VideoGenius videos.
  • Twitter - designs for creating videos showcasing tweets from the X platform.

Each design category also adds specific control options, for example, an option to turn of CTA text, Twitter comments, etc.

Variations

Each of these designs can be customized with your own content, such as text, images, and videos. You can also change the colors, and choose between different aspect ratios. Aspect ratios vary from design to the design, but most of them support the following:

  • Wide - 16:9 aspect ratio, suitable for YouTube and other video platforms.
  • Square - 1:1 aspect ratio, suitable for Twitter and other social media platforms.
  • Story - 9:16 aspect ratio, suitable for Instagram Stories and TikTok.

Using the API

You can use the Designs API to render designs programmatically. This allows you to automate the rendering process and integrate it into your existing workflows.

You can use these freely with any Plainly subscription without any limitations.

FAQ

Why can’t I render VideoGenius designs directly?

VideoGenius designs are not available for direct rendering, because they are designed to be used with a VideoGenius feature. Instead, you need to setup a Video types and use the designs as templates within them.
